A rare 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR ‘McLaren Edition’ will hit the auction block at RM Sotheby’s London Sale on November 1-2, 2024. As one of only 25 cars upgraded by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), this Fire Black edition stands out for both its rarity and its performance-focused modifications. Expected to fetch up to $900,000 USD, this exclusive SLR is a must-watch for collectors.

Originally built in 2006, this SLR received MSO’s special upgrade package in 2011, which included a lighter carbon-Kevlar front floor, improved aerodynamics, and a 15% increase in downforce. New springs, dampers, and a lowered ride height significantly sharpened the handling. The upgrades, priced at $217,000 USD, transformed the SLR into a track-ready machine without compromising its grand touring legacy.

This Fire Black edition, the only one with its bespoke color, features black wheels from the 722 S model and a Black and Anthracite leather interior. The car has just 23,746 miles on the clock and includes a full-service history, with the latest service completed in February 2024.
With a combination of exclusivity, performance upgrades, and stunning design, this McLaren Edition SLR is a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
