Chopard Unveils the Insofu Collection: A Masterpiece of High Jewelry
Chopard presented the Insofu Collection, a stunning 15-piece high jewelry series crafted from an extraordinary 6,225-carat rough emerald unearthed in Zambia. Named “Insofu,” meaning “elephant” in the local Bemba language, the gem’s shape and size reflect the majesty of the animal. Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s co-president, acquired the emerald and set out to create a collection honoring its unique beauty.
The Insofu Collection includes five pairs of earrings, four necklaces, three rings, a bracelet, and a jewelry watch. Each piece highlights a distinct aspect of the emerald’s character. This marks the second installment from the Insofu emerald, following the first reveal at the Oscars the previous year. A standout in the new collection is an elephant-shaped pendant, featuring several emeralds framed by diamonds, symbolizing the gemstone’s trunk-like shape.
The collection’s design draws inspiration from Art Deco and the novel The Great Gatsby, with pieces that allow for versatile wear. Scheufele partnered with Elephant Family, a charity dedicated to wildlife protection, with part of the proceeds going to support the cause. “In every stone lies a story, and my role is to listen and honor the natural magic they carry as treasures from the earth,” Scheufele shared.
