The Cannes Film Festival glittered a little brighter this year with the Trophée Chopard ceremony, a prestigious event recognizing the next generation of acting talent. Held on May 17th, 2024, at the Carlton Beach Club, the evening celebrated Sophie Wilde and Mike Faist, the chosen recipients of the coveted award.

Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, and her enduring passion for cinema, established the Trophée Chopard in 2001. This year, the stunning Demi Moore served as the ceremony’s Godmother, presenting the gold-coated silver film reel trophies to the teary-eyed winners.
Following a retrospective showcasing Wilde and Faist’s burgeoning careers, a who’s-who of the film world gathered to witness the momentous occasion. The esteemed jury, comprised of past laureates and godmothers, had meticulously chosen the winners. Notable attendees included President of the Cannes Festival Jury Greta Gerwig, actors Eva Green and Kevin Costner, and French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.
The evening transcended the award itself. Guests were treated to a delectable Michelin-starred meal by Chef Bruno Oger, featuring the vibrant flavours of southern France. Qatari artist Dana Al Fardan further captivated the audience with an immersive audio-visual performance from her album “Indigo.”

Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at the Chopard Rooftop at the Hôtel Martinez. Here, Alessandro Ristori and the Portofinos kept the energy high with music reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s.
The Trophée Chopard serves not only as a recognition of talent but also as a beacon of future success. Past winners, like Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard and Palme d’Or recipient Léa Seydoux, are testaments to the award’s ability to predict and propel careers on a global scale. The 2024 ceremony undoubtedly ignited similar anticipation for Sophie Wilde and Mike Faist’s journeys ahead.
