Exclusive In-Season Testing Takes Place at BIC from March 26-28
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the ‘Home of Motorsport in the Middle East,’ is set to host three days of in-season testing for the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships this week, from March 26 to 28, behind closed doors in Sakhir.
Bahrain International Circuit F2 and F3 Testing Schedule
These Bahrain International Circuit F2 and F3 testing sessions are strategically placed between the first and second rounds of both series’ 2025 seasons. Following the opening round in Melbourne, Australia earlier this month, the two support series will return to BIC for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025, which will take place from April 11 to 13.
Official Testing Schedule (March 26-28, 2025):
The tests will run from morning until night, with separate sessions for each series throughout the three days, allowing for both daytime and nighttime running. Formula 3 will be on track from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 3:15 PM to 5:45 PM. Formula 2 will run from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM and then from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Please note that no spectators will be allowed during these in-season test days.
The Road to Formula 1: Rising Stars to Watch
Formula 2, now in its ninth season, continues to be a vital stepping stone for future Formula 1 stars. Among the most notable F2 graduates are Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Alexander Albon, Yuki Tsunoda, Oscar Piastri, and more recently, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Jack Doohan, Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson, and Gabriel Bortoleto.
FIA F2 & F3 Races During the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025
For Formula 3, the 2025 season marks the beginning of an exciting new era with the introduction of a new Dallara-built car. This car aligns more closely with F2 and F1 in terms of safety, performance, and systems. Additionally, the new car runs on Aramco’s advanced fuel, which is being developed to meet the FIA’s 100% sustainable fuel standard. Both F2 and F3 will feature two races each during the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend: Sprint Races on Saturday and Feature Races on Sunday. The Bahrain-based Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East will also be part of the support series program.
In the opening round of F2 in Melbourne, Joshua Durksen of AIX Racing won the Sprint Race, although the Feature Race was canceled due to adverse weather. In F3, Santiago Ramos of Van Amersfoort Racing triumphed in the Sprint Race, while Rafael Camara of Trident claimed victory in the Feature Race.
