It was a musical night to remember as the Embassy of the Italian Republic in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), presented the concert: A Tribute to Ennio Morricone:
Oscar Film Scores by il Quintetto at the occasion 32nd Bahrain
International Music Festival.

Il Quintetto, composed by Norberto Gonçalves Da Cruz and Michele Mucci at the mandolin, Valdimiro Buzi at the mandola, Andrea Pace at the guitar and Emiliano Piccolini at the double bass, paid homage to one of the greatest film soundtrack composers of the 20th century, the legendary Ennio Morricone (1928-2020), whom they had the honour of working with during their career.
The ensemble performed twelve musical compositions created by the Maestro for iconic worldwide drama and Western films. Among the soundtracks played: the BAFTA Award-winning Cinema Paradiso (1988), the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning Mission (1986), and scores from the international box-office successes directed by Sergio Leone (Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), A Fistful of Dollars (1964), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
The theatre has once again confirmed a “full house”. The President of BACA, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, representatives of Bahraini institutions and embassies, local society and students of the Grazia Deledda Center for Italian Language and Culture were present.
H.E. Ambassador Paola Amadei has thanked H.E. Shaikh Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, President of BACA, for the invitation to participate in the Festival and the BACA team for the collaboration in making the concert possible. “The Bahrain International Music Festival is an event that brings together
musicians from all over the world, symbolizing Bahrain’s openness to cultural diversity and keen attentiveness to art. It is always a pleasure to present Italian music masterpieces as the award-winning soundtracks composed by the great Ennio Morricone, and to see such high participation, which demonstrates the continuous appreciation and affection of the Bahraini community for Italy.”
