The beautiful grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este near Lake Como, Italy, created the perfect setting for the diverse range of classic automobiles contesting this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

Over the course of three days, the nominated elegant and timeless four-wheeled beauties competed for the attention of the jury and audience at this prestigious and historically significant competition. This year, the event, jointly organised by BMW Group Classic and the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, included eight classes representing the entire spectrum of automotive history.
THE BEST IN SHOW
A Duesenberg SJ Speedster styled in the coachwork design by Gurney Nutting from 1935 was the glorious overall winner. The proud owner, William Lyon, was presented with the prestigious winner’s prize Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show – by Helmut Käs, Head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A Lange und Söhne.

Alongside the dazzling trophy, the winner selected by the Jury also received a unique model of the 1815 Chronograph in white gold. The exquisite watch was created by A Lange und Söhne exclusively for the winner of the Best of Show. The hand-engraved Concorso coat of arms on the hinged cuvette makes the chronograph one-of-a-kind.

A further highlight was the first-time award of the Trofeo Il Canto del Motore for the most beautiful symphonic sound of an engine. Jonas Kaufmann, one of the greatest tenors of our time, presented the prize to Christophe Count d’Ansembourg from Belgium as a salute to the impressive sound emanating from his Porsche 917 K from 1970.

The glittering event also featured some of the more modern cars, including concept cars, new launches, and parades of all the participating cars, to the delight of all the automotive enthusiasts present.

The atmosphere of the event was electric and is best captured on video. Immerse yourself in the magic of the spirit at the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
