Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, has a long-standing and rich record of religious freedom, commitment to upholding humanitarian values and a cohesive society marked by tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
This was highlighted by His Majesty the King’s visit to the Italian Republic, where he met with His Holiness Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church.

Their discussion centred on strengthening the cordial ties between Bahrain and the Vatican, emphasising the shared commitment to fostering tolerance, coexistence, human fraternity, constructive dialogue, and collaborative endeavours for the betterment of humanity.

Building upon this fruitful exchange, HM the King also held constructive talks with Sergio Mattarella, the President of Italy, and Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister. Their discussions delved into the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations, encompassing a comprehensive review of regional and global developments, with particular focus on the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip.

Both parties underscored the paramount importance of intensifying efforts to de-escalate the situation, prevent further deterioration, restore calm, safeguard civilians, and establish secure corridors for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.
