It’s the first Monday of May, and you know what that means.. It’s the MET GALA!
Labour Day crossed over with the Met Gala this year. The Met Gala’s theme this year was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” as a tribute to the late Chanel designer and friend of many celebrities. The creative director of Chanel from 1983, until his death in 2019, was usually seen with thick black sunglasses and his sleek hair in a ponytail, and many Met Gala attendees chose to wear classic outfits from the French fashion house in his honor. Along with his designs, many adored his pampered cat Choupette.
The 2023 Met Gala’s official co-chairs are Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, organizers of the gala. The invite-only event is probably the most anticipated fashion event of the year and can leave viewers talking about it for the rest of the year or years to come. So to be invited and make an appearance would definitely allow one to shine brighter in the spotlight the Met provides.
Here are our top looks
1. Naomi Campbell
The supermodel wore an elegant Chanel creation from the 2010 collection with sleek hair and minimalistic makeup

2. Lily Collins
It was wonderful to see the star of ‘Emily in Paris’ in a beautiful Vera Wang creation that gave a nod to Karl with his name embroidered on the train of her lovely black and white dress
3. Rihanna
Fashionably late as always, the singer arrived with her partner ASAP Rocky. Covered in the signature white flowers of Chanel, the dramatic lashes and shades all gave her the perfect Met Gala look. ASAP Rocky was also considered on of the best-looking men on the carpet

4. Michaela Coel
The co-host got the plot! Since it was her first time as a co-host, the stakes were high, and let’s say she did justice! The bejewelled creation by Schiaparelli, which featured 130,000 crystals, looked ravishing on the actress/director.
5. Anne Hathaway
The renowned star wore a Versace monochromatic, floor-length tweed dress with Versace safety pins keeping it all together.

6. Piyanka Chopra Jonas
PCJ arrived with her husband at the Met Gala, both in Valentino and the Bulgari Ambassador also wore a magnificent Bulgari High Jewelry necklace featuring Sotheby’s ‘Bulgari Laguna Blu Diamond.’
7. Doja Cat
When you have “cat” as your stage name, it’s only fitting that you dress up as the late designer’s cat!

8. Jared Leto
The actor was not far behind in showing his admiration for the cat, as he put on a fur costume of the cat as well. To us, he looked more like a mascot at a Saturday Night game… Luckily he changed into an archival Karl Lagerfeld ensemble
9. Lily Aldridge
Effortless and Elegant. How more can we describe Lily Aldridge in Oscar de la Renta’s spin on Karl’s design

10. Nicole Kidman
The actress looked surreal and angelic in a Chanel corture gown that she first wore in 2004 when she featured in the Chanel no.5 perfume advert!
While every celebrity displayed their own tribute to the late designer, we definitely missed the Queen Bey, and the Queen of the Met Gala – Blake Lively who skipped out on the met this year
